Common Grounds with Microsoft

Walk through a digital reconstruction of ancient Olympia.
Augmented Reality, Interactive Installations

bringing the past to the future

As part of Microsoft’s AI for Cultural Heritage project, we collaborated with Microsoft and the Greek government to create a digital reconstruction of ancient Olympia as it stood more than 2,000 years ago.

Our primary focus was the Mixed Reality exhibition in the Athens Olympic Museum. Using Microsoft’s HoloLens, visitors take an MR tour through culture and history, from what archeologists have learned from the present ruins to what it would have looked like in ancient days.

Interactive Guided Experience

Using the HoloLens mixed reality headset, viewers are invited to interact virtually with the buildings and artifacts from the historic site.

Viewers are able to walk through the site and experience art, culture and history while listening to guided narrations.

Global Collaboration

To facilitate collaboration with Greece, we had a full replica of the exhibit created in Portland, Oregon, for our prototyping needs. This allowed us to build with the right context, record WIP content, and iterate quickly with the client based in Greece.
